The Far North Area Plan is being prepared to provide land use, urban design and economic development policy guidance, as well as development guidelines that will inform future development decisions within the planning area. This plan updates the 1994 Far North Plan.

The Far North planning area is located on the north side of Columbus. The general boundaries are I-71 to the east, I-270 on the south, Olentangy River on the west and Powell Road on the north. The planning area includes portions of Orange and Sharon Townships, Highbanks Metro Park, Polaris Fashion Mall, and a mix of residential and commercial development.

An area plan provides policy guidance relative to land use, urban design, and development guidelines. It is based on a participatory planning process using consensus-based techniques and technical analysis. The plan will be reviewed by the Development Commission and adopted by City Council as formal city policy for this particular planning area.
