Columbus Art Commission

OwlThe Columbus Art Commission (CAC) was established by Columbus City Code chapter 3115. CAC members serve without compensation and are appointed by the mayor with the approval of council. The primary role of the CAC is to approve all art purchased, commissioned, or accepted as a gift by the City, as well as all art proposed for placement anywhere within the Public Right of Way or on property owned or leased by the City. CAC approval is also necessary before any art subject to their approval can be in any way altered or removed.

Commission Members:

All Columbus Art Commission Appointments are At-Large. Per Columbus Code Chapter  3115, members of the commission shall be experienced and interested in the arts of architecture, landscape architecture, sculpture, painting or other similar arts and works of art and shall serve without compensation for a term of five (5) years.

Meetings:
Regular meetings are held as needed—generally on the 4th Thursday of the month. The meeting location can vary between the Community Training Room at 109 N. Front Street and the Columbus Health Department, 240 Parsons Avenue at 6:00 pm. Meetings are subject to cancellation or rescheduling. You are encouraged to contact the Planning Division for meeting and location confirmation.

Business meetings are held as needed – generally on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the King Arts Complex, 867 Mount Vernon Avenue at 8:30 am. Meetings are subject to cancellation or rescheduling. You are encouraged to contact the Planning Division for meeting confirmation.

Applications:
Application deadlines vary by month, but are always prior to the Business meetings. Applicants should contact the staff representative for more information regarding application deadlines and submittal requirements.

Sign Language Interpreter:
An interpreter will be made available for anyone in need of this service. To schedule an interpreter, please contact the City of Columbus, Planning Division at 645-8036 at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the scheduled meeting time.
