Strong, safe neighborhoods begin with the safety of our children. Each of us has a role in keeping our children safe while they are at home, school and play. The city of Columbus’ Neighborhood Pride Bicycle Safety Festival works with Neighborhood Pride Partners to teach children the basics of how to be safe and have fun at play and at home. The Bicycle Safety Festival will be hosted at an Elementary school that represents each of the six Neighborhood Pride areas for the year. The Bicycle Safety Festival includes: - MetroParks Rangers and the Community Crime Patrol teach safe riding skills and instruction on correct hand signals as children ride through a Safety Town course.
- Children’s Hospital, OSU’s Think First Program and Columbus Public Health work together to properly fit bicycle helmets.
- Columbus Recreation and Parks department’s climbing wall for grades 3-5 with permission slips.
- Education about animal safety from Franklin County Animal Control and Columbus Public Health’s veterinarian.
- Home safety education from the American Red Cross.
- The Fire Safe House and fire safety education from Columbus Division of Fire. The Columbus Police Officer as your friend.
- Coupons and gifts from Neighborhood Pride Partners.
- And more!
