2008 Program Guidelines

The Chores Program assists seniors and disabled persons with minor repairs to their homes. These repairs must be for the safety or health of the senior or disabled person. Applicant and property criteria for participation in this program are outlined below.

Eligibility

Persons applying for Chores services must be: 60 years of age or older or  physically disabled; with income at  80% or less or HUD area median income (AMI) as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines; the homeowner; and a resident of the City of Columbus. The home repair must be $1,000 or less including supplies and labor, and must be for the safety or health of the senior.

If the applicant is eligible for the Chores service, they are referred to either Clintonville Resource Center or LifeCare Alliance, depending on their zip code (see below). If the Chores request is outside the scope of services for Clintonville Resource Center or LifeCare Alliance, a referral will be made to Economic Community Development Institute (ECDI) or Rebuilding Together Columbus/Christmas in April.

Eligible Activity

Minor home repair and maintenance work for seniors and/or physically disabled persons requesting assistance. The home repair must be $1,000 or less including supplies and labor, and must be for the safety or health of the senior or disabled person.
