To address the immediate pressures of growth in West Columbus, a task force of individuals representing business and development interests, schools, City divisions, neighborhoods, and neighboring jurisdictions met in the spring of 1990 to develop an Interim Development Concept for the area. A traditional, two-year planning effort was not undertaken considering the increasing development pressures and the advent of the comprehensive planning process. The resulting guidelines provide a general framework for decisions regarding land use, circulation and community facilities.
The West Columbus planning area is bounded by the Columbus/ Hilliard corporate line on the north, West Broad Street (US 40) on the south, Interstate 270 on the east, and Alton and Darby Creek Road on the west.
