The City of Columbus (in association with Campus Partners, members of the University Area Commission, the Weinland Park Community Civic Association, The Ohio State University, and many others) has developed a neighborhood plan for Weinland Park (located just southeast of The Ohio State University, east of North High Street and north of East Fifth Avenue).
The Plan was endorsed in late 2005 by the Weinland Park Neighborhood Plan Working Committee and by the Weinland Park Community Civic Association. An initial presentation to the University Area Commission was made in October 2005.
A public hearing, sponsored by the University Area Commission, was held on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Godman Guild, 303 East Sixth Avenue. The purposes of the hearing were to present the March 2006 review draft of the plan and to take public comment. There was a very large turnout for the hearing and staff requested additional public comment by Wednesday, May 10, 2006.
The draft plan (with an addendum of changes recommended by staff) was endorsed (with some additional modifications) by the University Area Commission at its May 17, 2006 meeting. The Plan was on the June 22, 2006 Development Commission Policy Meeting agenda and adopted in July.
