An update to the City of Columbus 1994 Northeast Area Plan commenced in April of 2006.
A Working Committee is now meeting monthly. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8 pm at the Unity Health Center at 3433 Agler Road, Columbus.
Draft materials for urban design, land use, transportation, and infrastructure have been developed, reviewed, and endorsed by the Working Committee.
Key highlights of the draft plan include:
A planned mixed-use neighborhood center at the intersection of Agler and Cassady Roads.
The use of stream buffers along all creeks and the use of stream buffers and/or land purchase along Alum Creek to provide open space, parkland, and/or enhance water quality.
The concept of the transfer of density and potential of density bonus to achieve the tree and other resource preservation.
The future development of Sunbury Road as a scenic byway.
Design standards for residential and commercial development.
The City of Columbus Planning Division, in collaboration with the Northeast Area Commission, held a kick-off meeting for a plan update on June 9, 2005.
