Description

The Port Columbus Area Development Partnership has been established to jointly guide economic development, land use, urban design, and infrastructure improvements throughout the joint planning area. The Partnership is comprised of the cities of Columbus, Gahanna, and Whitehall. The mission of working in partnership is to make the area surrounding Port Columbus Airport a premier job center by creating and retaining employment.

The Joint Economic Development Strategy Plan outlines the following efforts the Partnership hopes to accomplish by:

    • Setting boundaries for a "joint economic development strategy" planning area in and around Port Columbus;
    • Coordinating land use planning and identifying and aligning public improvements and services, development incentives, and marketing efforts necessary to recruit and secure private investment;
    • Engaging stakeholders, including the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, Franklin County, State of Ohio, Veterans Administration, DSCC, United States Government, Chalmers P. Wylie Veterans Administration Hospital and private sector interests to participate in the partnership;
    • Establishing procedures to encourage the purchase of goods and services from businesses and the hiring of citizens from the participating jurisdictions in the development of this area;
    • Determining and executing the best type of agreements between jurisdictions to assure appropriate benefits and revenues from respective investments and commitments
