Description

The April 2006 Greater Parsons Avenue Area Vision Plan is a study of the market conditions and potential for the Parsons Avenue corridor and its relationship to the surrounding Southside neighborhoods.  The Columbus Urban Growth Redevelopment Corporation and the Columbus City Council's new Jobs Growth Fund provided resources for this study.  The vision plan incorporated an extensive series of meetings and workshops held with Southside organizations, numerous civic and business associations, and the community which formed a Steering Committee. Work began in March of 2005 with the team of Burns Bertsch and Harris, POD, Vogt, Williams and Bowen; and Bry Consulting.

The Greater Parsons Avenue Area Vision Plan addresses the struggle the community has with crime, traffic, property abandonment and image problems that spill over from the Parson's Avenue corridor.  Included are case studies and lesson recommendations from other communities facing similar redevelopment issues of historic neighborhoods districts.  See Susan Crotty from Columbus Urban Growth for additional information. www.urbangrowth.org
